i used to be an EXO-L back then around 2017-2018, i remember this was the last song that i listened before i stopped being a fan, i don't exactly remember how or why i stopped, but i remember how this song made me cry, no other kpop group has ever touched my heart the way EXO did to mine, i recently got back listening to them again and it feels rlly nostalgic and just remembering how much i used to look up to them, even after so many years passed ever since i became a fan, the feeling they gave from listening to their songs again is still as beautiful as back then

There is no chance of getting a winter album this year. Chen, Suho & DO are the most important for winter albums. All 3 are in military. Baekhyun & Xiumin are important for winter albums too but Xiumin is not here too. Sehun and Kai's voice don't suit winter albums (they rarely get any lines there)

I did some research, and I found a couple things that were interesting. Rope is a symbol of knowledge. Coffee is a symbol of peace of mind. And the English lyrics reveal that this song is about searching for the person you fell in love with and never letting go of the memories you made with them. Hm...

And as for the things that actually happened in the MV: Kai is seen wrapped up in rope, symbolizing him being trapped by memories and the knowledge of his past with this lover. Several times, we see coffee being made but never consumed. Even Kai is surrounded by tea and coffee that isn't touched. EXO is denied their peace of mind because of these memories. The coffee-making itself might symbolize when someone does things to try to move on from a breakup, but they never really let go. Smoke shows up a couple times as well. Smoke is commonly used as a symbol of the spirit leaving its physical body or a spirit being lifted and set free. Once again, this symbolizes someone finally letting go of an oppressive spirit. But finally, at the end, Kai's ropes snap free, showing that he's finally moving on, and everyone is smiling and drinking the coffee. They're finally at peace. It's funny how a song about never letting go has an MV that says the opposite...EXO, you are geniuses. ❤️

Wow thank you so much for this explanation. I honestly wish I knew who makes these MVs, as in Director, DP...etc cuz I wanna ask them all sort of questions. There should be behind the scenes and interviews with the crew all the time. It would be very interesting for people who are interested in knowing the meaning behind these MVs and also for those who are into making films...etc.

EXO - kings of winter songs. And the album is great. All the songs from this album are loved to the core: "Stay", "been through", "lights out" and, of course, "universe", which still remains the queen even after almost 6 years. I really hope that one day they'll come back to us with a new winter album.

At first I didn't really understand why I love this song so much, why it is so warm and special at the same time. Until I stopped to listen to the background instruments and the harmonic melody they form when they sound together, and I knew that was it, this time they did something different with the song, something simple and at the same time amazing in all its splendor.

Sometimes, the only thing to do is weep at the beauty, the aesthetic of Korean filmmakers & stylists at the service of artists like EXO. Wood, paper, rope, cloth - this is a visual haiku.
