Honestly SM is actually really smart. The way they set Red Velvet up for success. Usually when you think of girl groups there's trends and concepts that have been repeated over and over. You have your girl crush/bad ass group such as BlackPink and 2ne1, you have sexy concept groups such as AOA and EXID, you have innocent bright sweet girl groups such as GFriend and Twice and yes their concepts do change a little every comeback but not drastically or else it would put off their fanbase. With Red Velvet SM set it up beautifully so that Red Velvet can literally do any concept they want, they even make new concepts instead of following trends both with music and appearance.Happiness, Be Natural, Automatic, Ice Cream Cake, Dumb Dumb, One of these Nights, Russian Roulette, Rookie...they are all so different but RV can do all of them. Stan talent people!!!

I think people tend to say that rookie is not the best song because the song is UNIQUE to their ear. The producer of Rookie is a foreigner so it tends to put western and korean style in one song. When you listen to it, you can feel a korean and a touch of western on it. We are well advised that Red Velvet is such a unique group, they don't stay on the same concept(what I mean concept is the song itself not the music video). When you listen carefully to the song you will learn how amazing it is regardless of your preferrence. The vocal line uses a technique which cannot be done easily(even tho it's not a high note refer to Seulgi and Wendy's part) Joy's technique on her 2nd part deserves an applause it's good. Both Irene and Yeri proves that they can sing(all of us can sing but what I mean is that sing like an idol) Red Velvet is not Red Velvet when they'll show same concepts(song concepts) everytime. Jandi Hwang I think it's annoying because they not only repeat "lookie" over and over which is mispronounced and on top of that with that super obnoxious voice. Has nothing to do with the producer and it's also not unique what so ever i can name a few songs that sound pretty similar. Same thing with 'Pick me Up' by Produce 101 it's annoying as hell. And yes i can criticize the song it's my opinion and i'm not insulting anyone.

It is not mispronouunced, because korean pronounce 'R' as 'L' so of course they pronounce 'Rookie' as 'Lookie'. It is okay to share your opinion or criticize the song, but dont talk randomly saying them mispronounce it. Better know what is fact first before u talk.

@Loyal Reveluvs Freaking love their red concept songs. Probably my favorite ones tbh. Groups, artists and idols that I like the most are usually those who get the most intricate music production (besides the quality of the singing and rap parts) and Russian Roulette, Power Up, Rookie, Sappy (etc.) are soooo rich in sounds, elements, harmonizations, chords, it's refreshing to listen to them. SM might be a trash company in terms of idol management (*cough*EXO&NCT*cough*) but IMO they're the company that experiments the most in terms of music production in the K-Pop industry (and most of the time, it works).

Every one used to say that snsd I got a boy was a terrible song and that it would flop because it's so "weird" and guess what it's there most popular song that's why I wasn't to worried when people kept saying this is a terrible song give it a week or two everyone's gonna love it I saw the potential in the song since I first heard it people think this song doesn't show there vocal skills because there distracted by the chorus and there's no high notes but it shows there vocal colors very nicely and red velvets popularity has increased so much since Russian roulette either way this song is definitely not a flop and It will be there most popular song in my opinion only time will tell ❤️
