This is actually pretty smart on the part of Lee Soo-man. Jazz has been steadily growing in popularity in Korea over the past few years - The Jarusum Jazz Festival draws between 200,000 to 250,000 people each year. In addition, most of the jazz lovers in Korea are young - under 40, which is the exact opposite of in the US, where most jazz lovers are over 50 and 60.

Huyen Nguyen i'd agree. the conversation between their lines is so complex, rich in harmony and unpredictable. keeps me on my toes. I'd say that jazz that makes people sleep would be some bill evans solo stuff, but this, woah, this is just full of energy.

I guess they will? I mean,it take time. It took like a year or something for sm to give their artists especially the idols to have a taste on their projects. They might not have the real soul to do jazz.But I do hope Kai will join this kind of collab,would be a waste of his jazz background if he didnt try.

Billbo Musgrove - this is not part of the Open Station. That project is to help amateur or not really well-known singers/songwriters/producers to gain acknowledgement through releasing an original track via SM. However, these guys are no amateurs. They are Grammy winners!

I have been a k-pop fan for many years (I'm old) and for so long I've wanted something than the repetitiveness that these companies hash out year after year that doesn't just come from non-idol artists. Don't get me wrong, I think some new songs are very good and there are some very talented groups, but this SM STATION that SME decided to do was a very smart move on their part. This music... is really good! It's refreshing.
