It looks like no matter how popular you are and how much money you've earned you may still feel lonely and just like in beginning when TY get out of the car showing she's complete and happy. Even inside the home/hotel she's not comfortable anymore because haters wants to crush her and bring her down and for that she dont know who to trust anymore and that is why she decided to run away and leave everything behind because of how her life is a cycle so she did something new. It is just my opinion, I can't help but to think that the mv speaks how she felt this years and how badly she wants to do something new to get out of her cycle of life. I respect Taeyeon and her music it was very gorgeous and amusing.

I think by the looks of Taeyeon's new MV, Something New, it clearly shows a concept of total schadenfreude and misery experienced by Taeyeon from her haters, on how her depression throws her down under the bus just because she thought she wasn't good enough, but man, that MV also showcased her strengths as an artist, still striving for the passion she has for music, and also showed her independence as an individual, that the fate that she almost had to quit before has made her loved by millions of SONEs around the world. It also promoted one of the most unique colors in the K-music scene, since we rarely get these funky jazz-pop feel on music these days especially we're undergoing to an electronic/hip-hop/flashy/cutesy era. She said this album ift for us SONE, specially for Korean SONE, who won't meet her until she wraps up the promotions in Japan, and I think the video is her showing us how she feels, how she deals with the hate, facing it every moment and having to keep moving forward, but still showing us a good face and mood, and the good side of life trough SNS no matter what, because that's the TY she wants is to see, not the hurt, scared or angry Taeng. I think our Taengu is so strong and brave regardless, I think she deserves the world and I really, really do think she is the best and most complete artist and performer in South Korea; and yeah, that's 100% a biased opinion. Taengo, you are the love of my life.

I think the ending shows that despite her thinking shes free and running into the distance at the beach she is shown on a black and white screen on tv showing the very actions she is doing to try something new. This shows that she is always being watched because she is a celebrity and can't escape and be free

this is so badass and sad at the same time. just thinking about in real life how taeyeon manages to be the celebrity that we like with all the glitters and glamour and then suffer alone when she's not on the spotlight. I really admire everything about her. Our Kim Taeyeon is a very strong woman.

It is sad and scary how much a beautiful smile like Taeyeon hides. People perceives her as if she is okay and fine. When in reality is the black and white is the sad reality. You get what I mean,it is so sad and scary. And hard to explain.

this is my analysis and speculation about this mv. Which was beautifully done btw I was completely sucked into it! *this is my own opinion and if you have your own please lmk bc I'd love to hear different respectful perspectives about this MV* In the beginning it seems like taeyeon is carrying weapons in setting where you would not normally *showing Her defensive mindset* shes crying but comes out of the car fine *meaning she can cry for hours going through things but the public would have no clue* She emerges from her car being sheltered by the rain and protected by the crowds by security. She's also live streaming certain parts *showing that she only shows her fans the good parts and is only being protected by so much* because when she walks into the hotel she is alone and has no luggage with her, she signs something and breaks the pen, *maybe symbolizing how she signed into this celebrity life and she came in with no baggage* She goes into the elevator and begins fighting this dude, she is somewhat ready as she has a weapon and she is able to fight him, *meaning she has always had to be prepared for anything with celebrity life* She walks out with baggage , literal and *mental baggage* and she hauls it unto her room, see how throughout the mv she looks untouched *showing major things can happen behind the scenes and she may not show it plus fans would not be able to tell she was going through any thing* Shes laying on her bed and live streams again *only showing fans good times again* she assumes shes safe but room service comes in and brings her 3 things 2 plates of cakes and a knife and begins to attack her *showing how life presents her with pros to being an idol but there on unexpected and deadly cons that have come her way that she wasn't prepared for* (cred :fair distribution in Mic drop) *the cakes and the server could be a personification of Taeyeons long term struggle with her weight* * the fights that she has could be mental battles* She leaves the hotel with more *baggage* And there are no fans *meaning they dont see this side of her life* outside waiting for her and she loads it up herself *meaning shes dealt with everything herself* into a truck and not the limo she came out of earlier *meaning Her life comes with alot of baggage that goes beyond the glamour* she leaving it behind in flames as she *attempts to destroy her past struggles and forget about it* She then goes to a cliff to destroy it all and runs away from it, you get a peak into what kind of baggage she carries *money, maybe for worry about future success or trophies, the burden of constantly needing to uphold her status in fame* she never opens it and throws it off and tries to shoot it *meaning she tries to destroy her problems and run away from them in attempt to get rid of her problems* she tries to destroy them all at once *showing Her attempt to get over it all at once* but they all open and backfire She runs away barefooted and the camera is shaking *meaning shes so vulnerable and desperate to get away from the things that weigh her down she gets rid of her shoes in order to flee as fast as she can* Which then it cuts back to her watching herself and her past and crying again *maybe meaning that rewatching these events show her that shes not quite over these major events, and that even though she may throw it off cliffs, shoot at them, and ran away from her baggage it all still has a strong affect on her.* IF someone saw this MV without knowing her story it could be confusing and difficult to understand. But Taeyeons story is a story of success but also a sad tragedy that most will never understand, but this MV illustrates just a part of it if youre willing to dig deeper. Idols are human, they have emotional baggage that they carry with them through out their schedules and yet have to put on a brave face for SNS. I hope that through this MV it humanizes not just taeyeon but your own favorite idols. That theyre not impervious to problems just because they are famous.

My interpretation of the music video is the vulture like nature of social media and those who use it. How social media has encapsulated us so much that you can even live stream events instead of fully enjoying the moments. The recurring motif of the suitcase may represent her career, the safety and stability of what she’s doing and it’s also used as protection too. The woman fights her which could possibly represent knetz and it’s only a simple slap that stops her possibly showing that retaliation is the only way to get the haters to stop. At the end she shoots the suitcases and money and confetti falls out meaning one of two things; again the stability and benefits of her job or maybe she’s shooting it because even the money isn’t worth it anymore. Anyways I’m probably off mark but this was a really interesting video and I love the song
