Yeah there was a lot more experimenting back then and trying out new concepts. I feel like once the agencies figured out which concepts make more money, they decided to stick to those tropes instead of trying out new things like they used to. For example, most of the groups nowadays have the formulaic group members main rapper, vocalist, main dancer, etc. But back then you could find group members with a larger variety of roles and talents, with a lot of the roles overlapping. This meant just about everyone in the group was capable of doing other roles, and could therefore experiment with more styles, compositions, and choreographies. A lot of group images/personalities have also become more standard in the industry nowadays, like the "bad boy/girl group" or the "sweet boy/girl group", etc. Don't get me wrong, sometimes you can see them breaking their own styles and trying other stuff for one or two songs. But my point is that old kpop groups *looooved* being bipolar with their songs and images, so you could expect all kinds of styles and concepts from a group. Lmao sorry for the history lesson, I just really appreciated older kpop. 😭

I don't think so because lately KPop becomes like "pop-hiphop" oriented? Not all of them are hiphop but obviously most of them use "hiphop concepts & looks". Not a dance kind of songs like this anymore. Enter the top charts is yes but I don't think it'll be such a hit the top charts. Btw, I love TVXQ. Personally I think TVXQ has the biggest chances to be the most popular back then but I think the problem about member and something happens in another way for them. But we can't denied how great they are. Aaah I forget about the facts about how important the idols to makes an appearance on a show in Korea, esp varshow. And personally I think I can't found TVXQ often on the like usual SM's member group. So yeah, a bit uneasy for TVXQ promote themselves. Love and Peace..

TVXQ have always been so raw and authentic since the beginning but at the same time trying different types of concepts , today's k-pop groups can never ever do what TVXQ did and is still doing.

In general SM made a genre what they call SMP sound which is an experimental genre comprising of various genres of pop, classical, rock, and hiphop which is eminent in early H.O.T., TVXQ and EXO songs It can still be felt in todays geducation but with new sounds

***** Op's comment is irrelevant to those that don't follow kpop but just bc non kpop fans don't know TVXQ doesn't diminsh their legend status. And frankly, it's a waste of time for any kpop group to try and become famous in the US bc the market is too small to see any real return. Number of groups/solo artists have tried and failed. GS was a fluke due to the vid going viral. None of Psy's other releases since GS gained any real steam but again, that doesn't diminish Psy's legend status in Korea.

***** Yes, that's why I said OP's comment is irrelevant to those that don't know kpop. I'm glad Fine Bros is helping to shed light on other Kpop groups. It's just a shame Kpop is represented to the West/US by GS. Kpop is a lot more than GS. ( Even Psy is a lot more than GS (although, unfortunately you wouldn't know it with his latest releases)). That's the point I wanted to make.

Where have they been hiding my whole life! It's my first time listening to them and I'm totally amazed! The song is great but what really got me was their dancing, the whole concept is so creative and it's crazy how great they are at dancing considering their vocal skills. So much talent!

This is now my favorite music video in the history of ever. Like, I am completely obsessed with this video. A lot of times what I do with music videos is I don't actually watch them; I just leave the song playing and then play Solitaire or something. This is one of the few music videos where I always watch it all the way through. It's like...hypnotic or something. I think it's just those glove-locking-things. Those are awesome and I want them.

I'm not a big K-pop fan, but, this shit is my *JAM!* I mean I could do without the dub-step wubble wobble, but besides that I actually really like it all. First off, they have a *AMAZING* voice and I mean *AMAZING*, they can sing so freaking high while keeping a perfect pitch. Second, I fucking *HATE* dancing in music videos, idk why, but I find it very cliche and uncomfortable. Don't get me wrong I like dancing, all different types, but nowadays its like I said before, very, VERY, cliche. These guys on the other hand, I'm entertained watching them dance, and you can tell they put every emotion they got into every step. So yeah, I guess I kinda like K-pop...

Tips for new-comers: 1) Never insult the band in the comments section of the video. There will be a million people who will gladly go out of their way to prove you wrong but not before making you feel like you insulted somebody's religion. (Which is actually what fandom culture in K-pop is like) 2) Just because one song has auto-tune in it, doesn't mean every song does. Do your research, look around, listen to other songs by the band and then make your judgements. 3) If you like it and embrace it. I am new but I'm honestly in love with TVXQ now. I was originally just a Green Pea/SS501. Then came SuJu, SHINee, and(please don't bash me. I know a lot of people don't like EXO-L's:,-/) EXO. When I first listened to K-Pop, my first song was one of TVXQ's. I loved it but I never had time to search more of it and sadly forgot. I heard a lot about TVXQ from SS501/Triple S later on and came here. That's when I remembered and I fell in love with TVXQ all over again. Is there any other group similar to these guys? Their style/music is amazing! I only know the groups listed above BTS, and Big Bang.

maybe some cassies know, and maybe some cassies don't know, but do u guys remember the ceo who came before the current ceo now, kim young min? yes, that's right. it's kim kyung wook. thx to him, TVXQ was made after he had searched the whole nation to bring out many taleted singers, and picking 5 out of it. kim kyung wook says before TVXQ, which was the era of H.O.T., and Shinhwa, the strategies, and planning came first. However, in order to make the "dream team," kim kyung wook devised a new idea which was to only make a group full of talented vocals, which is now called TVXQ....

Same. I've been thinking this for years expecially when watching Kpop live performances. Countries should encoperate more dance moves, have better stage directors and singers who can do both. They would win hands down.
