It gives me chills how she recovered from the accident now here she is, unstoppable, like water. How she didn't wanted to let go off the mic while going to the hospital. When she said music means everything to her, I can feel it. I can see how much work and effort and love and strength and courage she might've put into making this. Welcome back Wendy.

You know what amaze me? She took about 1 year to recover from the accident happened during SBS show but then when she is completely healed she come out with a song to heal us all after the long wait. She really deserve this so reveluvs let us make her proud.

I've never came across this artist before but I'm at an awe by her voice. It's very smooth, indeed like water. It has warmth too. I like this song (would've been better without the repetitive beat), the melody sways the emotions on waves, goes really well with the lyrics which I also find well written. The MV certainly helps complete the whole picture, feels very lucid, just like clear water. I wonder if she has more songs like that

We are watching and listening a woman who held her mic all the way to the hospital, was still practicing her singing even when her mouth was wired shut, and started practicing choreography as soon as her hips healed. And the fact that people from her company said it is a miracle for her to be able to sing again! The drive and passion Wendy has for being an artist is unbelievable. She is a fighter.

That tone, that pitch, that range, that voice makes this 53 year old man tear up. I was introduced to Kpop through my daughter, but was introduced to Red Velvet by my wife, and when I heard Wendy sing, I was floored! I immediately was a fan. Not only that, her personality and humor.. won me over completely!

Not much was known about how much it hurt for Wendy, how much did she go through in the recovery, because she didn't want us to worry. And the first song she came back with is to reassure us everything is okay. Wendy is an angel.

@Boring Bunny - One of the big show companies where idols perform their comebacks had a stage that wasn't secure and caused Wendy to fall - I think something like 6 or 8 feet high. She broke her wrist, pelvis and cheekbone and fractured some other bones so she went into hospital for a long time and wasn't in any of RV's TV appearances for a while.

She was on hiatus for a whole year (was hospitalized for 2 months) from making any TV show appearance with Red Velvet since she had rehab and stuff. Had to consume soft food like tofu only since she can't chew and her mouth was wired shut. It's that bad.

nope. you're true cause that's the concept. She doesn't only sing, but she understands how to make this song sound as flowy as water. it feels very connected from one verse to another. Not to mention how they directed the music video, it all seems like a painting using "water colour" or like a painting where the color faded because it's deep soaked in water. the album itself is named *LIKE WATER* because water takes up a huge portion in our body. (a very important element) Wendy herself says she thinks about the feeling of GIVING US LOVE instead of thanking fans for the love. Now if you see, it is Just like water. Water takes every form of the shapes and is very accepting. so she's telling that the love she gives for her fans are unconditional, accepting and healing. I would say this is the best, well planned and probably the most detailed solo debut ever! Not only because of the concept planned for her, but it seems like Wendy is an artist who understands deeply what music is all about. She delivers this perfectly just like how she wants to. This song might sound a bit laid back and not that type of go into your face type of song, but somehow it is very uplifting, the subtle calmness in this feels magical and not many people can do that!

I honestly believe this is what makes Wendy different from other kpop idols, while others tend to follow the trends, she chose to stay true to herself, by creating an album that gives comfort and consolation to those who need words of encouragement. She doesn't need to produce loud a** beat kind of music just to prove her worth as a singer performer. a bit of instrumental accompaniment and her voice alone will do it for her. I guess she isn't the type who focuses on such results like charts, views sales achievements or whatnot, otherwise she would choose the safe zone. Those who doesn't know anything about music won't obviously appreciate her works, especially this album being ballad per se. But that's what's respectable about her, she sings to inspire, she knows what she wants. Despite having one of the greatest vocals in the kpop industry, she stays humble and grateful. Very endearing. In my honest opinion, she's passed that kpop idol phase, as she's a real artist in the making. And kpop is so lucky to have her.

This is so on point. I think Red Velvet and the members in general have reached that point where they are okay to do what they want because they’ve already made it (i guess it really was during Perfect Velvet era). They have the leverage to release songs and concepts that they want to do. I think before that they were expected to give results but since they’re already huge, they’re given that leeway. They’ve ALWAYS been outstanding at every concept they do. But now it just feels more them. More personal and authentic. Reve Festival Finale - MASTERPIECE. And I said this a lot about Like Water album. It’s very sincere. It wasn’t made to be a big global hit. It was just made to express her sentiments and that’s very respectable for an artist. The appreciation of many intl fans was just a plus.

She’s stated so many times that this album was for her fans who waited and as a form of thank you for waiting for her throughout her hiatus. She could do any genre if she wanted and SM helped her single out what songs she wanted and what direction her album will lead up to. I mean she could have had chosen RnB and pop heavy music but she didn’t. She’s also not the type to stick to one genre although her passion for music has always been on the RnB, jazz, and ballad genres. But she chose ballad-ish songs for now because it feels like that’s where she knows how to convey the proper emotions she want to show to the fans this time around. She wants to make all kinds of music, even something like Leave The Door Open so to say she doesn’t want a loud *ss beat when she probably coulda woulda want ta but maybe not for now. I guess I just don’t like it when people box her into one genre because in hindsight, that’s mostly all she ever sings because its whats mostly spoonfed to her you know. But I agree, she’s a cut above from the rest of her peers. She’s in a whole league of her own. Though there’s big expectations being an artist from SM, I, too, agree that she could care less about sales and charts. But I mean we never know how she truly feels. Maybe she does care to an extent because the public and fans expect so much from her and there are big shoes to fill in coming from a company like SM. I always say this this though. She has yet to show everything she can do. Whether it’s anyone who follows her as a fan or listens to her for the first time, she has that special voice that leaves you yearning for more.
