She revolutionized K-Pop.. I get so sad and hurt when people try to diss her just to highlight modern artists.. her style might have seemed dated, but it was extremely pioneering and her type of music is used often these days. I love you so much BoA..

저땐 시민의식도 그렇고 여자에 대한 인식도 그렇고 지금처럼 프리하지 않았기 때문에 시대에 대한 반항을 옮긴 가사가 잘 팔렸지만, 이제와서 저런 노래 내면 "너는 도대체 뭐가 부족해서 불만이니?" 이런 소리 듣기 딱 좋음ㅋㅋㅋ

뮤비가 공개됐던 당시에는 '왜 현모양처의 대명사인 신사임당의 오죽헌에서 가을편지를 부르는 걸 뮤비에 붙였을까?, 가을편지를 앞에 붙이면 현모양처스럽다가 걸스온탑하면 메세지가 너무 강해져서 뒤에 붙인 건가?' 이런 생각을 했었는데.. 시간 지나서 을 보다가 '신사임당이 단순하게 현모양처나 율곡의 엄마가 아니라 일찍이 13살에 뜻을 세우고 스스로 호를 사임당이라 짓고 한사람의 학자, 교육자, 예술가로서 불꽃처럼 살았던 사람이지만 율곡의 어머니로만 여겨지고 있었구나'라고 알게 되고 나서는 이 뮤비의 가을편지가 다르게 느껴진다. 뮤비감독이 의도했는지는 모르겠지만 최고!

많은 사람들이 보아의 명곡으로 발렌티나 넘버원 혹은 메리크리나 마이네임을 꼽는다. 하지만 보아의 아이덴티티를 극명하게 보여주고 역량을 맘껏 표현한 시그니처 송은 바로 걸스온탑이다. 이 노래가 시대를 너무 앞서가서 나온게 안타깝다. 지금 나왔으면 현세태에 경종을 울릴 가히 혁명적인 노래가 될텐데 ㅠ

이노래 처음 나왔을때도 레알 개 충격이었는데…이 노래도 시대를 앞선 명곡 이었어….ㅜㅜㅜ 보아는 대체…몇수를 내다 본건지… 이미 가요계 최 정상에 있는 갓더비트 걸스온탑 그녀들이 부를 걸스온탑이라니..심장이 웅장해지며 다시 한번 이 곡은 재조명 받을 명곡이 될듯 ㅜㅜ

이때 시대가 어땟냐면 섹시한 차분함 영원히 한남자만 아는 따분함..이랫음 진짜..드라마만 틀어도 온통 여주는 다 그랬음..ㅜㅜ그랬기에 시대적으로 주목을 덜 받았던 곡이기도하고…시대를 너무 앞선 곡이기도 했음..그 틀과 관행을 깨는 곡이었어서…그리고 이때는 너무 어려서 가사보다는 곡과 퍼포먼스 위주로 생각했지 가사는 깊게 생각 못했지.. 보아는 항상 몇수를 내다 보고 시대보다 앞선노래를….이제 이 곡을 받아 들일 시대가 왔으니…그게 17년 후라니..와..가요계 최정상 후배 여돌들과 함께 그 파워를..보여주면 이곡은 아마 더 많이 주목 받을걸 ㅜㅜㅜ

The original release of this song and mv was a few months after KZbin went online (it wasn’t known or owned by Google yet), one year before Spotify was invented and one or two years after Melon and iTunes. The promotions and metrics were completely different so all of you questioning BoA’s success because of present platform numbers, stop embarrassing yourself, study some more and get your facts straight.

If BoA makes her debut now, she could be more succeed more than ever. This album was super hit in Korea back then. Especially in school. They got inspired by her wolf hair and military pants!! And I found KZbin because of BoA at that time, maybe in 2006. All of her videos are 360p or 240p. Hard to recognize her face though. And my friends didn’t know about KZbin. I guess KZbin gets bigger since people started using smartphones

How to boost this video's view to 20-50 million views? We need one member of Aespa, or Red Velvet to cover this song, and voila younger Gen Z K-pop fans will find this video, and that's how this video can get a boost in views. Also since K-pop is mainstream in the western world (including the US). Hopefully maybe MTV, IGN, or a mainstream pop culture/music news that may talked K-pop before BTS & Blackpink can maybe bring up BoA and probably include & embed this video and I hope it can get more views. Also, since there's a 80's, 90's, and early 2000's nostalgia wave on social media (i.e: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok), I hope that nostalgia wave could also effect K-pop and maybe somebody would share this MV on TikTok or Instagram and it could go viral (remember the original Reading Rainbow theme song went viral on TikTok?), I hope somebody could do the same for old-school K-pop songs, and K-pop songs before BTS/Blackpink era.

Still have this album. It was so cool seeing her perform this song live in Los Angeles around the time this came out.. it was intense! Plus other heavy hitters like Se7en, Lee Hyori, Epic High, Stony Skunk, MC Mong, PSY (this was WAYYY before Gangnam Style; his sound used to be very different), Lee Soo Young, SS501, DBSK, DJ DOC, Shinhwa, Fly To The Sky, and sooooo many more were in the building as well. It was quite magical. I started listening to Kpop back in 2003. Saw all these people live in 2006. One of the best eras for Korean Pop Music. I don't know what happened nowadays, too many large groups and the music quality is just not what it was back then. But there are one or two new ones that I think are genuinely talented although I heard they disbanded (EXO-K was pretty cool, for example).

어릴 적에, 이 노래의 가사가 지면에 실린 것을 본 적이 있다. '모든 게 나에게 여자가 여자다운 것을 강요해'라는 가사가 무슨 의미일까 한참 곱씹어 본 기억이 난다. 오늘 아침 문득 생각나 노래를 들어본다. 시대를 앞서간 노래다.
