Mona Qiu I totally get what you're saying and agree with those things. But to say he isn't fluent is kind of a stretch imo. His accent is like that typical Hong Kong accent while speaking Mandarin, but I don't particularly see a problem with that just because you could argue that a lot of native Chinese speakers have a thick accent when they speak Mandarin, lol, it really depends on what region you're from tbh. It's not the worst I've heard, and it helps that it's steadily improving, but I do see your point there. In terms of fluency, he carries conversations with the other Chinese members perfectly fine, especially in more casual situations. (Cameras/public exposure often affect how a person speaks, and Lucas is like the perfect example of that, haha. He completely crumbles when he's put on the spot, regardless of the language he's speaking. Then again, lots of other people are like this, including myself.) Yes, he has a lot to learn, especially when it comes to slang and other more eloquent or less commonly used terms, but he has no problems communicating on a regular basis. I obviously wouldn't place him at the native fluency level but he is definitely proficient to a decent degree. It's like he's past semi-fluent but not fully fluent. (Now if you were to say he isn't fluent in English, I would 100% agree with that. I've seen people say otherwise but I don't get it.)
