as a musician myself, this is why I love Red Velvet, not just simply because of the visuals, but most importantly also the diverse, unique, experimental music artistry. they're just different from all other groups. I particularly really admire their 'velvet' side (usually much more experimental & artistic, than just simply following the 'mainstream' trends/hype like all other groups), which in today's music world, it's only Red Velvet that I know that performs music genre/style like this. I hope people could appreciate this more.

The fact that people are forgetting is that when this originally came out in 2015, girl groups in South Korea weren’t doing this type of concept AT ALL. The fact that Red Velvet was bold enough to showcase this type of versatility while they were still considered “rookies”? Let alone even a year old? The K-Pop world was probably shook by this group.

I'm gonna be honest, the way Red Velvet makes songs is amazing. They have both catchy pop jams and slow 20th century jazz, but they can immediately hook you with either one. They're like a drug; once you start, you can never stop.

When it comes to rnb, red velvet understood the assignments 100%. Like ngl there are great rnb kpop groups but red velvet they are untouchable when it comes to rnb. Their vocals and instruments just blends so well together like broooooooooooo. And especially wendy’s voice is more built for western/rnb style, just makes all their songs 100x better. Like the queen of RnB goes to RED VELVET.

이런 어렵고 마이너한 노래를 2년차에 소화하는 레드벨벳도 더블타이틀로 내버리는 스엠도 참 대단하다 오토매틱으로 보여준 벨벳을 결국엔 대중한테 먹이는구나 진짜 이노래가 특이한게 보통 우리가 생각하는 대중가요를 생각하면 특히나 한국노래에선 피크를 찍어주는 파트가 있단말임 브릿지 다음에 고음으로쭉 임팩트를 주는 근데 이곡은 그런 파트에서 오히려 음을 내려버림ㅋㅋ그래서 더 우아하고 매력적임

See why I like Red velvet and think they are different from other groups is because they experminet more. They don't just make the head bobbing beat that everyone will love. And that's why they have underrated tracks like Automatic. They have done so many concepts. For example they don't just stick to the girly cute or the more dark sexy concept. They have tried many and its no nice. With every comeback being another interesting track or album. They don't try to make everything western and sometimes stick with Korean pop which I can appreciate. Good job Red Velvet and SM.

for a very big company, i really applaud SM for letting their artists explore very artistic, innovative concepts. they very well know that these can result in lower sales than the bland, commercial music most of K-Pop has devolved into today, but they still do it anyway, they deserve more recognition in this regard.

This is clearly the Velvet video of the era, which means Ice Cream Cake is going to be the Red, and I CANNOT WAIT.
