Harmon McCraw in my (not professional) opinion, a lot of baekhyuns mentoring and vocal growth happened after his debut. listening back to old performances you can easily see where he used to make mistakes or approach things incorrectly resulting in like a 50/50 success rate when he tried more complicated stuff. and even though chen had a similarly short training period, I’ve never seen anything like that from him. So it makes sense to me that Jonghyun, a damn near PERFECT vocalist, would not pick the kid who still needs a ton of help and practice for a powerhouse duet the whole point of which is to showcase vocal prowess. To me, chen is just the obvious choice and even now that baekhyuns singing has a 100% success rate i still find chens delivery much more resonating in terms of emotions and just general... aura i suppose. he radiates an easy confidence that i really enjoy and assume jonghyun did too

I’m extremely thankful we got to see as much of his talent as we did, everything he’s ever shared with the world has been utterly breath taking. These two have so much in common. xD The similarity's so hard to miss! Matter-of-fact wise: They are both Kim Jongs. They go under the same company and made it into the same ballad group. They both sang with Zhang Liyin before. Strange extra fact, they both have/used to have a dog. Chen has this dog named Shu when he was in elementary school and Jjong has Roo currently ^^ Appearance-wise: They are both Dinos, High cheekbones and all that jazz. They are both, kinda, short in height. (lol lol sorry Jjong Chennie, I just had to put it here xD But you two are perfect just the way you are, really ^^) They both have some cute and unique feature that sometimes looks adorable and funny, like Jonghyun and his cute nostrils (I really do find them cute and they actually make him look so much like a dinopuppy he is >

I too feel his singing is awesome not just his angelic voice but as he conveys emotions so effectively,It's sad even some Exo-Ls saying he may be the best in vocal techniques but his voice is not emotional. All Exo members are totally handsome Chen is very manly,cute & handsome too,with years his visuals has improved so much ,well after watching his close up fancams I can say his visual is breathtaking he is one of the most hottest ,manliest member , he can be the cutest too . Aw, Chen looked really nervous here! But he and Jonghyun slayed this performance! I think Chen needs to practice more on performing live b/c he sounded a bit insecure in the beginning, but stabilized when they both harmonized. In my opinion, Jonghyun has enough experience where he can sing complicated songs live, and can clearly convey emotion into it. In order for that, he had to practice a lot as well. When Jonghyun debuted, I could tell he had trouble singing if the song didn't require powerful vocals. I'm confident that Chen will eventually get used to performing!
