She was discovered when she followed a friend to an SM Ent. audition at the age of 10/11. Her debut song is ID; Peace B and some many Korean classics that she is known for are: No.1, Atlantis Princess, My Name, Spark, Girls on Top, Moto, Garden in the Air, Hurricane Venus, Copy & Paste, Implode, Only One, The Shadow, and Shattered, among many others. Also, BoA debuted in Japan at the age of 14. Korea and Japan weren't in the best of relations (still isn't the greatest, but improving), however a Korean singer coming to Japan to be a huge hit in their language was so ambitious of SM and Avex. She later went onto become the first non-Japanese Asian singer to hit number one on Japanese charts, it was a big deal. Some fabulous Japanese songs are (yes, she released some Korean songs in Japan, but she had some just-Japanese songs): Listen to my Heart, Every Heart, Kimochi wa Tsutawaru, Valenti, Miracle, Moon&Sunrise, Love and Honesty, Be the One, The Love Bug, Shine we Are, Do the Motion, Everlasting, Make a Secret, Winter Love, Brand New Beat, Love Letter, Eien, and Meri Kuri along with many many more. She has released 16 albums total, 8 in Korea and 8 Japan. She has tried many styles, and you're bound to find a favorite if you just try. She's funny, cute, hard working, and talented. this takes me back 5-6 years ago when kpop wasn't only about teenage sensibilities and fashion. I remember kpop stars fan then being consistent and pretty much talented at everything. A singer could dance equally well and rap, too if hard pressed. the music wasn't predominantly trap either and there was less need for westernization.

이런 저런 시도를 해보는 것은 좋지만, 근래 나온 노래들보다 이 곡, 이 뮤비가 좋은 건 절제함에서 오는 것 같다. 과하지 않고 딱 보아스러운. 보아의 조용한 카리스마라고 해야하나.. 아무튼 그 점이 잘 살아있어서 정말 좋아하는 곡임. 심지어 뮤비 속 의상(밀리터리아우터에 트레이닝복)이 지금까지 봤던 보아의상 중에 진짜 제일 멋지다. 진짜 카모 만큼 보아 느낌 살고 잘 어울리고 멋있는 게 요즘 너무 없어 아쉬워...

She is one of the greatest female soloist of first generation, But her greatness is definitely still hard to compare with others singer from 3rd even 2nd generation. Hyolyn, IU, Ailee or even Taeyeon are could be another example of the "greatest" korean singers, greatest is not about how high the note they can reach or just about singing skills or stage performance Its more than those stuff. But BoA is still on top of the list.

Prior her debut, had she been at a sm audition to support her older brother who was auditioning and got discovered there, where after she trained 2 years learning 3 other languages: English, Japanese and Chinese. Around 2007 was she debuting in the U.S with the song I eat you up, and tho it was a flop had she opened a way for other Korean singers, idols and actors. Since then has she released many albums in japan making her well like among the Japanese citizens and a album in Chinese. She has acted in international movies and was the mc of produce 101 s. 2 and been a judge for the first 2-3 seasons of kpop stars. She is also the one who has earned most money into SM's pocket so they could debut DB5K, Suju, Soshi, SHINee, F(X), EXO, Redvelvet and nct, even the entertainments flopping groups.. Many veteran fans and a lot of idols looks up to her because she has been in the industry for 17 years and still are going strong, being nicknamed the goddess of kpop

요즘 유투브 파급력이 얼마나 센데 유투브를 하루 뒤에 공개하다니 sm의 미숙한 홍보 ... sm은 보아뮤비에 제발 가족인 ㅁㅌ가 하는걸 냅두지 않았으면ㅠㅠ 이번뮤비퀄 때깔 너무 좋고 팬들 반응 좋음ㅠㅜ 신체단점은 부각되지않게 찍어주고 의상,특수효과, 카메라구도,세트 다 세련되고 완벽함... 얼마나 이 영화같은 퀄리티인가.... 그리고 난해한 곡은 주지마요... 대중성이 조금 떨어진다 싶으면 대중성있는곡이랑 같이 더블타이틀로 가거나 해주세요..이런곡은 보아만 할수있는데 안할수는 없으니까ㅠ (근데 카모 들을수록 중독됨) 무튼 이제 세기만하고 공감 없는 가사의 노래는 임팩트는 있을지 몰라도 음원성적은 안나온다는걸 sm은 명심해주길.. 보아의 only one이 대박난 이유를 잘 분석해야함 멜로디,춤,가사 3박자가 딱들어맞았음

Actually if you google 'Queen of Kpop', BoA appears more than any other artist. There's very few singers I call "true performers" but like Michael Jackson, BoA is an actual performer. If SMTOWN were would remove their artists one by one she'd probably be the last person they'd even think of replacing. I've been listening and watching BoA my whole adult life and I turn 32 next month. Plus, she speaks, Korean, Japanese, and English (even if it's not as strong as the first too). I love her-she was the very first K-idol I ever liked next to S.E.S.

Definitely the queen, no, goddess of Kpop. The amount of talent that she has: the visuals, the voice, the dance skills puts her on the top. The fact that she can sing so effortlessly and smooth even with the complex choreo in her live performances is crazy. I agree there are some amazing singers out there but many of them can't dance like her and execute such clear singing at the same time. She paved the way for the idols we love today. She is a legend.

Man, I've been a fan of hers for almost 10 years and it's such a shame that she hasn't been given the attention and acclaim that she deserves in such a long time.
